We're heading to YUMA!

**Consider yourself warned, I had too much fun on this trip to be bothered with things like taking pictures.  ;)  You'll not be getting your money's worth out of this trip as far as the blog is concerned.**

Don't they all look super excited to be at the airport in Harrisburg before Mr. Sun even wakes up?
(Btw, thanks for the ride, Aunt Lorry!  You rock!)
That's ok.  We'll see plenty of him once we get to Yuma.

The traveling was rather easy.  One nice thing about having more grown up kiddo's, I suppose.
We had 2 connecting flights, but they were both quick and easy.  Just enough time to grab some veggie sushi in Charlotte for the next leg of our flight and right back on an airplane we went. Btw, the full ramifications of eating sushi (even without the fish) on an airplane didn't hit me until we were sitting there a bit later opening the containers.  Turns out that it smells fishy whether there's fish or not.  :)  I didn't feel too bad about Marshall, Amelia and I because we were the only ones in our row.  I felt bad for the couple sitting with Abby.  Cringing, I asked her about it later and it turns out that they didn't mind at all and were shocked to see such a young girl enjoying sushi (guess they didn't look that closely at it) and gave her all kinds of suggestions for things she should try.  She gave polite answers, but I could tell by the look on her face that she has no intention of taking their advice.  Hopefully she pulled off an interested "thanks for the advice" routine and her face didn't give her away.

Some of our favoritist people met us at the airport in Yuma.
What a delightful surprise!
It's funny how you can be away from somewhere for 6 months and the moment you get back, it feels like you've never left.  We collected our bags and our rental car and we were on our way.  Well, most of us.  Turns out Marshall's bag had other plans.  Reno must've sounded like a fun side trip, so the poor boy was without a suitcase.  We stayed with Pastor Boundey and his wife first, and he had a few errands to run, so we took advantage of the time to pick up an outfit for the boy for the next day and get him a much needed haircut.  And while I freely admit he was in need of a cut (see the top picture), I was in no way prepared for the scalping the poor child got.  Apparently when I said "long boy's cut", she heard "1st day of bootcamp".  Her very first action was to take the razor down the center of his head.  The girls gasped quite audibly and from there it was all about the damage control.  The poor thing looked like he was going to cry when she showed him the mirror.  She tried to make it better by using gelling and stretching and pulling what remained of his hair and giving him a faux-hawk, but he is too smart to be fooled by her trickery, a skill I hope he keeps as he grows up in his XY ways.

One of my first thoughts?  She's ruined my Christmas card.

Especially upsetting to him was 2 days later when we returned to church for the first time and there were people who didn't recognize him.  He was so disenheartened.  Here he had waited and looked forward to this trip and minutes after getting here he was forced into a semi-permanent disguise.  I didn't tell Marshall this, but as we progressed on our trip and I was sending Jeremy pictures, even his own dad didn't recognize him in a few.  We are almost 2 months out at this point and while his hair is starting to grow back, it hasn't even been able to get curly again yet.  It's just starting to stand up.  If you ask him, he'll probably tell you he doesn't need another haircut until after his birthday. ;)
