Right after we came home from our brrr chilly camping in October, a few of the wives were getting together to take their kids to a local (around here, 1 hr 15 mins away constitutes local) farm for some fall celebrating. It was probably targeted for kids younger than mine, as evidenced by the fact that not one of them was young enough to ride the pony ride, but they are good sports and easily entertained. They all had a good time and after our few hours there, they were good and worn out.
Lots of pumpkins to choose from if you want to take one home!
Exactly WHO gave this girl permission to grow up?
Animals are always a hit with my kids and they will feed them all day long if you don't let them run out of kibble.
They loved this super long slide.
As you can see, Amelia is an all out, throw your body down the slide kind of gal.
Consequences or not! Who else do you know that breaks bones playing Hide & Seek and swinging at the park?
(Why would anyone care that their undergarments are hanging out when you're having such a grand time?)
Marshall is a bit more protective with his body and at least tries to guard it from injury.
She is also definitely going to beat everyone at the hay maze. Even if it means that she goes over the bales instead of around them.
Next on our agenda? A little apple snack on the tractor ride that took us out to the pumpkin patch!
As soon as they got off of the tractor, they RAN to the far end of the field, guessing that all the little kids wouldn't have gone that far and the pumpkins would be better.
Must've paid off. Those are some good looking pumpkins!
Picking pumpkins in a cotton field cuz that's how we roll in the South!
We were talking about how you need to pick a pumpkin with a stem that is longer than an inch because they stay fresh longer. Abby was determined to make sure hers wasn't rotten!
My kids along with a few others that were with us.
It's Fall.
In the South.
We need SNOWCONES!
And this stand had a really fun combination of flavors. Exotic things I'd never seen before like Bananas Foster, Tiger Blood and Hurricane.
After we cooled off with a snack, we played in the gem mine. We didn't mine for gems though. We just moved water from one spot to another. ;)
Abby found a little friend from the desert who immediately took a liking to her.
Guess who ran out of kibble? No need to worry, little goat. Amelia is resourceful. She'll pick the grass and clovers that you can't reach and hand it to you.
Did you know that a ginormously large mound of sand can occupy children for a freakishly long period of time?
Amelia has been taking gymnastics and is getting really good at cartwheels. So good in fact, that she is able to fling her flip flop a good 15 feet away from her, straight into a cow pen.
Since the kids feet would have drug on the ground if they rode the pony, the people at the farm let them have either a face painting or pumpkin painting instead. Luckily I was wearing a Steeler's shirt that day so the lady was able to improve Marshall's face. (In his opinion!)
The girls chose to paint their pumpkins that they picked out of the field.
We had such a lovely afternoon.
And the ride home was REALLY quiet.
;)
