Summer Evenings

We love to get out and talk a walk after dinner during the summer.
We are all ready to stop hiding from the heat and humidity of the day so as the temperature starts to go down, the Beavens head out.  This particular evening, we were so tired of being in the house, that we went for a walk despite the fact that even as the sun was going down, it remained terribly hot and humid.

Jeremy and I prefer to keep moving by walking down different side streets through the neighborhood, but the kids like to head straight to the beach.  It's actually a strip of sand on the Neuse River, but not too far from where it empties into the ocean, so it's definitely brackish water.  The sunsets here are beautiful.

This evening there were some jellyfish hanging out waiting to be stepped on.
We resisted.

Did you know that i can read dog's minds?
Not really, but I know this dog well enough to know what she is thinking.  ;)
Ok... Here was what Semper would say if she could
"Let's go for a walk they say, it'll be fun they say.  Now I'm sitting on the beach wearing a fur coat while they build sand castles."

Marshall, our little science guy was building a sand volcano instead of a castle.

This funny puppy just played and played.  He was running and dragging himself through the sand.  I think he figured out that the sand that they dug up was wet and a bit cooler than the rest.

"So hot.  So tired.  Must.  Keep. Digging."
He really was digging in this position.  See his blurry little back legs?

This is that same tree from a few posts ago.  Apparently called the Mimosa Tree?  Thank you Sue and Tima for the info.  It is quite invasive and NOT something I'll be planting in my yard.  I love the pretty fuzzy blossoms though.  Amelia called it the "The Green Bean Tree" when it was in it's seed phase.

Love her fuzzy humidity hair too.

This empty canvas is available for purchase.  Anyone want to be neighbors?
