Look! A puppy!

My NC friend Candy posted these pictures back in April.  Sweet little Sonny and Walter were looking for forever homes.  I never really believed in Cupid until I saw this picture.  Unfortunately for Jeremy, the kids who were looking over my shoulder immediately fell in love as well.  It took them a few weeks to convince him that the little brown and white puppy on the left was meant for our family, but just as they were beginning to give up, he said we could have him.

 I mean, seriously?  Have you ever seen two sweeter faces?

While we thought both were adorable, the old man soul of that little brown and white doggie had us smitten.

This is one that Candy sent after we told her we would take him.  She was kind enough to send us updated photos of our new family member.  I LOVE the kitty in the back stalking him and giving him the evil eye.  Now that we have him here, I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that he deserved that hexing glare.  Ask Creampuff.  She's developed quite a glare of her own.

 Candy works in downtown New Bern, so we just met her there one morning before work (three days after our arrival in NC) to meet the little guy.  He just seemed to instantly fit.  This was him on his way to Petsmart so we could pick up the few things we would need to outfit our home for a puppy.  We know his mama is a beagle.  His dad is some kind of terrier and we're wondering if it wasn't a Jack Russell terrier.  He seems to look and act like the online description of a Jack-a-Bee.

 The kids have had a blast playing with him and teaching him new tricks.  A large chunk of their summer was spent in the backyard with him.  Even Semper seems to enjoy having her new little buddy around.  They certainly have a typical sibling relationship.  NOBODY picks on my brother... Cept ME!

Oh, and we changed his name.  Sonny became Regal.  You know, like "The Regal Beagle"... that cheesy swingers bar on Three's Company.  Well, as far as the kids know, it's a restaurant.  I KNOW I saw them eating pretzels on that show....
