Horse Camp!

Amelia enjoyed a week at horse camp this summer.
It was only 3 days from 9-12, so she was able to go play and have fun and I didn't have to live without her so long that I was miserable.  The camp was sponsored by the 4-H, so there were lots of kids and horses around!

This is Amelia and her new friend Emily.
Emily's parents are actually "old" friends of ours.  They had an apartment in the infamous "F" building the very first time we were stationed at Cherry Point.  They didn't have any kids at that point, but were our friends and used to watch Abby for me occasionally.  They met up with us again for the last half of our time in Whidbey.  They had their son Joshua by that point.  He is only a few months older than Marshall, so they used to play with Thomas trains next to each other.  ;)

Emily's Mom and I took turn doing the drop-off and pick-ups.
On this day, I was doing the drop off.
I wanted a picture of Amelia and her horse for the day, Daisy.
I love how Amelia is humoring me for the photo, but you can tell that she really just wants me to take the picture and let her get on about the business of being a horse rider/expert.

 This is AFTER horse camp.
It had rained all morning, but that didn't dampen their spirits one bit.
They were still thrilled to be spending their day with these beautiful horses.
They were exhausted, tired and dirty.
Emily's mom said when she removed her name tag, the material underneath was an obvious clean spot compared to the rest of her shirt.  Now that's a good day!

Amelia and her horse du jour for Friday.

She was barely back in the car the last day when she wanted to know if she could do it again next year.
And then they were so played out that I didn't hear another word from either girl the rest of the trip home.
