Snorkeling at Kho Phi Phi

We rented a longtail boat to take us snorkeling around the island of Kho Phi Phi.  While the actual ride wasn't Marshall's favorite (too much swaying at high rates of speed), the snorkeling was a hit with everyone.
The view leaving our beach on Kho Phi Phi
The water flows right underneath this cliff.

This area of the cliff is actually inhabited by people who harvest bird nests for bird nest soup.  The scaffolding is just the beginning.  As you go by, you can see into their living area, down to clothes hanging out to dry.  You can only access this by boat and you would be the only one there.  LONELY!

In person, this view was just amazing.  Pictures just don't do it justice.
Our driver took us to a couple of spots to snorkel.  The fish were very friendly.  I've been snorkeling before, but this was the first place I've been where the fish would touch you.  Laura had a small wound on her hand that she had to hide from them so they wouldn't nibble it.  EEEKS!  It's like swimming with piranha!  ;)  If you tried to touch them, it would never happen, but when they chose, they would brush up against you.
The girls enjoyed the thrill of standing on the boat while riding.
Marshall made sure he was tucked safely inside the boat.  ;)

This is the beach where the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed.

All the long tails had these hammocks.
Why shouldn't you get to live in paradise AND take a nap every day?!?

Not a bad way to spend your day!
When we finished snorkeling, we had the boat driver drop us off at the beach where
we tracked down our lunch.  After lunch, we had a little rest time and headed back down to the beach.
We played at the beach as the sun was setting.
When we were finished playing, we strolled down the beach to our restaurant right by the sand.

Amelia found this piece of coral shaped like a number 7 and asked if she could put it on her next birthday cake.  ;)

And when your tummy is full and you are tired, you can go to bed and sleep soundly,
safe in the knowledge that no one is watching you.
That's what they want you to believe anyway....
