Another day we hired the same boat driver to take us just around the corner in the other direction so we could hang out on this secluded beach for the day. Wow, talk about having the place to yourself!
| Jeremy, getting all the snorkeling gear ready to use |
| Those two little dots are Katie and Abby walking off by themselves. Can you imagine finding this much available beach on the East Coast? |
| I suppose political correctness hasn't made it's way to Thailand yet. |
| Which came first, the palm tree or the coconut? |
| The only spot I could live at without electricity or running water. |
The man-cub was to be an ocean photographer (said real fast so it runs together
so people can't understand if you're saying that or bumbling oceanographer) when
he grows up. He'd like to combine his love of the sea with his desire to be an author.
We decided to help him see what it might be like by purchasing one of those disposable
underwater cameras. I just got the pictures back and will help him with a blog post in the
future. Just keep in mind when you see them that 500 baht sounds like a lot of
money, but it's not. ;) Not sure if a camera from the US could have taken better
pictures or not, but the boy is thrilled with them and that's really all that matters. |
Jeremy walked him out into the dark blue water where all the fish were hanging out on a coral reef.
We had set up a pick up time with the long boat operator (driver? captain?) and when we were ready, had him drive us back around to our beach and drop us off in the surf by the restaurant we wanted to try for lunch. I had a super yummy, super spicy green papaya salad. SOOOO good! I am going to have to see if I can find a recipe and try to make it here. I highly doubt Jeremy is going to take me back for more! ;) |
After lunch and another siesta (wonder how to say that in Thai?) we headed back to the beach for more playtime.
Jeremy and the kids built this rocket in the sand. |
| Complete with chairs! |
| The Meem's made her own, deeper chair. It looks like somebody was still sleepy even after a nap! |
| By the end of the day, Abby had enough of sun and sand and found a quiet spot to read her kindle. |
| Jeremy trying out his old school gymnastics moves with the girls. |
| It took a couple of tries |
| and everybody had a turn |
Oops! Katie falling off!
(And maybe Marshall meeting a sea nettle?) |
| But they got a couple of good ones! |
| And had lots of fun! |
You won't see these on the beach in the US either!
While we were playing on the beach, we noticed a family of 3 monkeys hanging around. |
Hard to see in this photo because there's no one to compare him to, but this is a baby
monkey having fun! |
| He was very fond of his mama and made sure he stayed right with her and gave that male monkey a WIDE berth. |
| So cute! |
This man found some bananas to share with them.
(Joke was on them when hungry monkeys met them at their door first thing the next morning demanding more food!) |
He must have seen Bolt.
Look at those big, pleading eyes! |
I love the sign...
<----TO THE TOWN
2 km
(into the surf)
:D |
Back at our favorite restaurant, which just happened to be at our hotel!
This night they tapped into some late 80's, early 90's hits from the US.
I wanted to steal their whole playlist for my ipod! ;) |
Another day in paradise!
