Easter 2011

I promise... I'm going to finish our trip to Thailand.  But before I forget all the details, here's Easter!

We started our day with a breakfast of french toast and fresh fruit.
We went to see African Cats, which was a great movie.  We laughed, we cried...
Ok, I sobbed.  I'm not ashamed.  ;)

When we came back home, we painted our Easter eggs using the
Doc Hinkle's paint set my sister mailed us.  I have been searching for the Easter Egg paint of my childhood for many years.  Every Easter Season, I head to every store imaginable and complain mightily about the selection available and the lack of creativity it fosters.  I am quite sure Abby had categorized these magical Easter paints into a section of her brain with Unicorns and Mermaids.  I am proud to say that after using them, she agrees.  All other egg paints are LAME!

Abby is always happy doing anything creative.

Marshall is always happy being Marshall!

Baby Huey, I mean Amelia, squeezed her last egg so tight that
she broke it.  Abby was sweet enough to share one of hers.
That made Amelia so excited that she shot her little arm out,
grabbed that egg and squeezed it tight...
And broke it too.

And back...

Abby with her favorite egg.  Told you she's creative.  When I was a kid, I couldn't manage more than some dots and stripes.

Marshall finished painting first and curled up with a good book.  Another  favorite from my childhood... those choose your own ending books.  I found this one at our Barnes and Noble and it's set in Thailand.  FUN! (And doesn't his hair look red in this picture?  YIKES!)

After painting the eggs, we sequestered the kids in the house for a few minutes while Jeremy and I hid those plastic type eggs outside.  I called them to the door and tried to take a quick picture before releasing them.  I think two of them were plotting their moves instead of posing for my picture.
The race is on!
Abby finished first, but 4 eggs over the legal limit of 16.  So we decided to go along with our current administration just this once and redistribute the wealth since technically, none of them worked for any of it.  ;)

The biggest reward of being a parent?  Times like this... Jeremy put the last egg into the back of Marshall's RC car and made Amelia chase it down.  SOOO funny to watch!  I guess maybe she worked for this one!
Hope you all enjoyed your Easter too!

I'm so glad that you blogged about this as well as put it on fb. You need to save these stories for when Amelia is asking you WHY her child is so much fun. =)
