Amelia is 6!

How does one little blonde baby with a bruised face, huge dimples and a very sleepy nature and sweet disposition turn into a
six year old spitfire who never runs out of energy, chatter or bravado in no time flat?
(I must confess we quickly discovered that her sleepy disposition was completely due to a rather bad case of jaundice.  :/ )
Amelia had lots of fun playing outside on her birthday.  I took her in the morning
to feed, brush and visit with her favorite horsey type friends.  Thanks to local Spring Break,
there was a neighborhood water battle in the afternoon.  The girls used their noggins...
They attached a wagon to this little car and were filling up their balloons at our house and
then driving them to the scene of the battle.  Emily's mom stopped by a few days later to tell
me that she overheard a conversation between Amelia, Emily and another little girl.  Apparently
they were trying to decide who should ride in the back of the wagon.  Amelia's argument for
why she should get to?  I thought the surefire reason that NO kid can even argue with would be....
"I should get to do it because it's my birthday today!"  But nope, this spirited little girl (with no
sassiness or maliciousness, I'm told) said.... "Well, I was picturing someone who looks like me
should get to ride in the wagon... and since I'm the only one who looks like me....
I think I should get to do it."
We will happily accept any and all prayers for us as we raise her, please.

She helped me frost her cake.  She chose a funfetti cake with strawberry frosting,
which was surprisingly good!
And gold glitter, of course!
And doesn't every cake taste better when made by a girl in a bike helmet?

Amelia with her final product and her stash o'gifts from all over the country.

Amelia wanted to have a movie night while she ate her dinner.  We watched
Tangled.  Perfect movie for her.  A princess needs NO rescuing.
She called my bluff on dinner.  When I asked her what she wanted, she said
bbq chicken.  I was thinking I'd just throw some sauce on a couple of
Morningstar Farms chicken patties.  We don't eat meat very often and I
have to admit, I have NO idea how to make bone in chicken with any kind
of assurance that I won't wipe us all out with salmonella.  She was sure to
follow it up with... like the kind from Famous Daves.  Chicken on a handle,
which is Beaven-kid speak for a drumstick.  Ruh-Roh!  What's a Mom to do?
Then genius struck.  Go through the KFC drive through and get a bucket of
grilled chicken, bring it home, throw it in the crockpot with a bottle of bbq sauce.
She was quite happy!

Blowing out the birthday girls candle.  What did she wish for?  A
great birthday, which she says she got!
The first year she's been able to read her own cards!
Abby bought Amelia this little stuffed horse with some babysitting
money.  Nothing quite as satisfying as being able to completely give
a loved one a gift.

Marshall had to have a bit of financial assistance from the parents.
A collection of Berenstain Bears stories is just right for her!

Amelia fell in love with this pink bunny in the Easter section at
Walmart.  His name is Strawberry!

Some little tiny glass food toys from Thailand that I had a blast picking
out for her.  The Ashlocks brought some for Abby a few years ago
when Amelia was just a bit too young to take care of them.  She was
super excited to have her own set.
Yup... It was a GOOOOOOOD day!
