MCAS Yuma Airshow 2010!!

The first weekend the Tetreault family was here with us, we had the pleasure of attending the yearly airshow held here on the station. We got there nice and early and picked out our spot next to the flight line. It was Lorry's family's first airshow so I was really hoping the kids would like it. We actually made it through the whole day, enjoying time watching what was going up above, visiting the static displays and having ice cold slushies when it got really hot.
Whew... that Arizona sun sure is bright!

Look at those transition lenses in action!

My sweet baby girl... insisting on wearing a wool hat on a hot day. Sometimes fashion really is worth suffering for.
This picture just makes me smile. Caleb was intent on watching the airshow while everyone else..... wrestles?

Poor Noah..... looks like someone's parents should have gotten HIM the transition lenses! (That or he thinks MORE really is more in the Mr. Glasses competition!!)

And yes, I hate to admit that sometimes I have a vicious streak to my humor... but I say you have it coming when you decide to plastic canvas yourself a hat that looks like a stain glass church window and then WEAR IT IN PUBLIC!!! Gotta love those snowbirds. It's so boring around here when they leave.

An AV-8B Harrier and KC-130 demonstrating air to air refueling techniques.

The man-cub trying to see what was going on despite the sun...

The vertical take-off and landing of a harrier is super cool~ if you've never seen it in person, you should!

Repelling from a UH1- Huey

This Jelly Belly plane flew as part of a skit. The pilot/clown pretended to steal the plane even though he couldn't fly it. It must take remarkable skill to purposefully fly that poorly. :)

An F-4 and an F-16 performing the Heritage Flight

The fastest loo this side of the Mississippi.... That's a jet engine powered outhouse right there!

While these aren't military aircraft, they sure do a great job at flying in formation. I've always liked biplanes. Don't think I'd like to ride in one though... I don't even like to put the windows down in the car because of the wind. ;)

Sadly, there was a casualty that day...

Fortunately, it was only a radio controlled plane.... :) I'm sure it's owner was still plenty sad as the value of this one was about $10,000.

Amelia getting a boost from our friend, Ben

A little taste of things to come...
