short but oh so sweet!

Pappy and Grandma Bonnie came for a visit last week and we were so happy to see them. Their time was short, but we made the most of what we had. They seemed happy enough to visit and enjoy our warm weather! Amelia was so excited that I was actually afraid that they wouldn't be here long enough for her to get over it and calm down. :)

While they were here, we went to the Yuma Territorial Prison. It is a really cool state park that unfortunately will be closing at the end of March. The history of the prison is quite amazing. I'm sure the reviticism rate was fairly low after spending a summer here doing hard time. :)

The views from up here are amazing! The desert really has a beauty of all it's own...

This is what's left of the Colorado River by the time it gets to us.

I have always loved palm trees. Even if it's not at the beach, they are good for the soul!

The Saguaro's are pretty too. They are 65 years old before they grow their first arm. I can only imagine how old this one is!

I just thought these were pretty. Even here in the desert some colors, like the bright blue sky are vibrant.

The kids all took turns ringing this ridiculously large incredibly heavy bell. Did I mention it was also very loud?

We had fun checking out the old cells.

And getting hugs in old cells...

This was a special low doorway made just to make the guards look taller.

Our little criminals posing for prison pictures they way they used to do them... simultaneous front and side profiles of course!

Dinner their last night was at Famous Dave's Pit BBQ. It was GOOO-OOOD! Pappy and Bonnie shared this behemoth monster of a dish. The funny thing is, it looked even bigger in person than the picture shows! ;) There was still enough leftover for the kids to pick from and Jeremy to have lunch the next day.

We had a great visit and hope to do it again real soon! We all love you!
