The Lords and Ladies be having themselves a fine day at the
Renaissance Faire!
Last week we packed up our fair maidens and fine lass and headed to the Two Rivers Renaissance Faire! It was an ahem... interesting trek back to a time when men where everything was different... the language, the food, the entertainment and wares...
A kindly warning at the entrance gate. The only thing missing is what to do with your lightsabers!
The first thing we saw was a Magic Show... I am telling you, I saw it with me own two eyes... this man SWALLOWED this balloon. It was GONE! I think I even saw his stomach grow while he was doing it too! ;)
This "lucky" woman was chosen to help the magician onstage. He swallowed some thread and she got to pull it out of his eye. Very gross. I think he should be relieved that he didn't pick me. Probably the nurse in me, but there's no way I would touch a strangers eye fluids without a pair of rubber gloves.
This cute little group marched in at the beginning of the second show we attended, Fowl Tales. The comedian tickled all of our funny bones... hearty belly laughs all around! I loved his dog. It looked like a mix between a St Bernard and a Lab. I wanted to bring him home!
What's this? Why it's a "Parrot-scope" of course. He was very punny!!!
The colors on this bird were amazing! He certainly will find no camouflage here in the desert southwest.
Of course, they had the standard enormous turkey drumsticks for sale... we chose to stick with the ever sweeter, ice cream as big as your head!
Abby is actually NOT in costume, this is how our little fashionista dresses herself. I love her eclectic sense of style!
What trip back to the middle ages is complete without belly dancers? Jeremy called them "The most out of shape belly dancers in the world" and was embarrassed for them... the other members of our family enjoyed the show. Amelia was watching and trying to copy...
Marshall, well, he looked quite content watching the dancers... we'll leave the psychology of why he felt the need to cover his head/hide his identity for a future therapy session... ;)
A sweet moment between Jeremy and Amelia caught to keep forever. What a good dad.
And it all comes back around to horses, right? Have you noticed the recurring theme of our blog? We've actually met these horses before. They are from Saddles of Joy, a local therapeutic riding group. You can find them in the post of the Rodeo Christmas Party
If you click on this picture to see it closer, I think this horse actually looks ashamed of his get up! :)

That's right...start them early. First one's free and then you hook them. I still like going to the Renn Faire.
Haven't been in years :(
