Remember WAAAAY back before we left Yuma, I told you that we didn't win tickets to the San Diego Museum of Natural History to see the Titanic exhibit, but that we decided to take advantage of a day off for Jeremy and go? Well, here is the promised blog post of the day trip. The museum is down in Balboa Park, which has a bunch of museums, performing art venues, flower gardens, parks and restaurants. If we lived in SD, I can definitely see us checking out each place very carefully.

The boy and a Megalodon. It's REALLY big!
I think this thing could have eaten our entire family in one gulp. |
 |
| This giant pendulum is quite hypnotic! |
 |
| Abby and her stegosaurus |
 |
| Amelia and a.... well, honestly, none of us remember. Something prehistoric. |

| The Titanic exhibit was pretty neat. Unfortunately, they did not allow any photos once inside the exhibit. I quick caught this one right next to the sign that says no pictures before they could tell me no. ;) Upon entering, we were each given a ticket so we could be an actual person who was on the Titanic. It told us our names and pertinent information, plus the class ticket we possessed. Jeremy and Abby were first class. Amelia 2nd. Marshall and I were 3rd class. All the way through, we had to listen to Jeremy and Abby gloating about their 1st class status. When we got to the dining room portion of the tour, we got to hear how much better their food was. At the staterooms, their rooms were so much bigger and nicer. Their dishes were nicer. Their smoking room was better. (None of us even SMOKE!!). Amelia and I had the last laugh. When we got to the end of the tour, they had a board where you could find your name and your fate. They all perished in the disaster. She and I made it. So :P! |

The Japanese Tea Garden sounded like a lovely spot to lunch, but we were in a hurry to do and see as much as we could, so we had veggie burgers and fries from the nearest stand. It was still pretty tasty. There was a hidden entrance to the zoo right by where we ate. |
After lunch, we explored the rest of the museum. Marshall was very unimpressed (aka gagging) at the gorilla skull that was being eaten by a carefully selected group of bugs that they use to clean the skulls. I'm not squeamish, but it really did smell terrible. We also caught both Imax movies that were offered that day.

We must have worn them out. The trip back to Yuma was QUIET. |
