Have you noticed a lack of blogging activity? Apparently I have fallen victim to writers block lately. I keep starting and getting stumped with this particular post. :) I've made an executive decision to just try to make the best of it and move on because so many more fun things have been going on around here lately.
So, ladies and gentlemen..... I present to you....EASTER 2010!

Sarah deciding that those older cousins are super fun to love on!
Easter 2010 will certainly be one for the memory books! Lorry and I got up very early that morning to take our dad to the airport. We were sad to see him go, especially on a holiday. The kids managed to do a pretty good job of keeping us busy the rest of the day! So much so that we were afraid that we would run out of time doing all the "Eastery" things we wanted to do.
In fact, before we were able to get to any of our Easter activities, we experienced the worst earthquake we've had since moving here. It was quite exciting and nerve wracking all at once. We were inside, all doing our own thing when the shaking started..... and then it continued.... and kept going! The action lasted for over a minute, which definitely felt much longer. Hollywood could never replicate what it feels like to actually SEE the sidewalk shaking! Cars bouncing? Imagining the sound your house would make if someone were to pick it up and shake it like a cup of dice? Sure. But to be able to SEE the ground beneath your feet moving or the water sloshing around in a cup sitting on a counter.... It's just weird, I tell ya! It turned out to be a 7.1 magnitude quake with an epicenter about 40 miles from Yuma. We had lots of aftershocks the rest of the day and to be quite honest, it was quite dizzying. I was trying to cook Easter dinner and kept feeling like I was going to fall over and would be able to tell that another little quake was occurring. That night I was woken a few times feeling the bed shake, similar to if there was an animal on the bed scratching itself.... only there wasn't. :) The noticeable aftershocks have come to an end and life is back to normal.
Well, almost. I still have to occasionally set this picture back to center. As all the little aftershocks rumble on, this ONE picture likes to tilt just enough to make itself noticed.

All that commotion wore one of us out.... I'm not going to say who!

The kids had lots of fun finding eggs that were actually quite difficult to hide with our present landscaping... We had to be more creative than usual. You just don't appreciate grass until you have to live without it!
Who doesn't remember the fun of checking out the loot?
While hiding eggs, we found these special little ones hidden in a tree in our yard.

Sarah thinks she would really like to have one of those bracelets! Maybe next year!
Sometimes I can't help but be a prankster... One of these is actually chocolate. Lorry and I only put the candy rocks in the eggs, but it was fun to hear the kids shock at getting ROCKS in their eggs.... and then even more fun to eat the rock right in front of them!
This year, we decided to forgo the gallons of post-Easter egg salad in favor of an equally fun decorating activity! Decorating cookies! Some were even egg shaped, so it didn't even feel like we missed out on anything. Some friends from the neighborhood joined in on the festivities.

This is Kevin and his yummy treat.
Madeline always has a pretty smile on her face.

Just me or does that shark look like he wants some COOKIE?

Abby's beautiful egg cookie which she never ate. No surprise there, eh?

I'll leave you with this last shot. Just me or does she appear to be threatening me for that bracelet? Nothing like wearing your feelings on your face, Sarah!

Wait til she growls at you!
I can't wait for her to growl at me! Of course, I will never give her reason to!
