Shameless public displays of affection

Bet I had you wondering at that title, huh? Never to fear, it's not as racy as all that. Just a bit of "puppy love". It's so funny to watch the dog and cat together. It truly breaks all kinds of rules of nature. Isn't it funny how the dog, cat and carpet are all the same color? :)

I have no picture of this, but it amused us to no end.....

We went swimming tonight and Amelia who has ALWAYS been our little daredevil just continues to amaze us. She started out wearing her little flotation vest and jumping in the water like a crazy girl. She doesn't care one bit if the water goes over her head. So tonight, she decided to up the ante a bit. She absolutely insisted that she wanted the vest off, so after some unsuccessful attempts at explaining to her why this is not a good idea, we relented, thinking we would just have to hold her. Ms. Independence would have absolutely none of that as she would shout at us between gasps for air "I DO IT SELF". She was wanting to swim by herself, with no help and would claw at our hands as we tried to keep her head above water. She would be upset and fighting with us and when you let go to show her what happens, she would look up at you while submerged underwater with a huge smile on her face. If she had put half the energy into actually learning how to swim as she was fighting us off, she could probably do it by now. She will happily sink to the bottom and try to fight you off as you try to rescue her. Silly girl! She also insisted she do lots of other things that she normally does with her swim vest, such as jumping off the steps into the water (requires pulling her out), jumping off the ladder into the water (pulling her out again), and my personal favorite, when she stands on either my or Jeremy's shoulders, counts to 11 and jumps into 5 feet of water (you guessed it..... pulling her out). By the time we left, her eyes were bloodshot and she was belching like a truck driver. Gotta love kids, don'tcha?

Hey Torry,
I'm really enjoying your blog! The pictures of the animals are great. Looks like the cat has grown since we last saw her!
I loved the story of Amelia wanting to swim without assistance! I can totally picture it! I'm glad you are so vigilant!
Miss you,
Laura
