Ocean City, MD

Watching the Ocean at night from the boardwalk

We are back from our super short, super fun trip to OC, MD. My family makes their annual "mecca" to the beach and we were able to join them this year. I was able to spend time with my dad and his new lady love.... who I absolutely adore and LOVED meeting, my Grandma, 3 aunts, 1 uncle, and 5 cousins.
Jeremy and I each also ran into an old friend. Jeremy was going for a run on the boardwalk one evening when a man jumped in front of him. It was one of his best friends, Mark. Neither one knew the other was going to be there. Mark had just exited a store when he saw Jeremy running toward him. Jeremy went out with him that night and he came to hang out with all of us the next day before heading back to Baltimore. We were up on the beach that next day with Mark when I thought I recognized the tan buff lifeguard that just ran by.... so I yelled his name and he turned around. When I went to get my hug, I heard Mark tell Jeremy something about how you can't trust women. As I was chatting with Zach, I was feeling like quite the stud.... :) UNTIL we finished our conversation and I went back to my family and heard one of them say, oh, that's one of Torry's friends kids...... I FEEL SOOOOOO OLD!!!! When did I slip from knowing a cute lifeguard on the beach to it automatically being assumed that he is my friends son? UGH.... Oh well, Pride goeth before a fall I suppose. At least I didn't literally fall!
The kids had a blast playing with their cousins. We spent the majority of our time swimming in the pool, playing at the beach and walking on the boardwalk. Amelia and Marshall are both swimming without arm floaties anymore. Marshall isn't as daring, but has greater ability. Amelia will drown herself till she gets it right. She does very well for a few seconds, then starts to go under. In true Amelia fashion, she doesn't care. She is starting to propel herself around the water on her back. Marshall is the one who is actually able to swim, but doesn't care for a wet head, so he's just as happy to play in the shallow end with his sharks. He will appease us when we drag him out to the deep end and do whatever we ask, then go about his own business. Jeremy took Abby to the end of the boardwalk to ride the rides one day and Marshall to ride a pirate ship the next.
We all had a great time and wish that summer and more specifically the vacations and time spent with our families could last forever.
