Happy 2nd Birthday, Amelia!!

Well, it certainly wasn't a day at the farm, literally! We had planned a fun little get together for Amelia, her siblings and some of her friends at a local little farm to celebrate. Unfortunately, Amelia woke up yesterday with the nastiest of stomach viruses. She has just been miserable. She has managed to maintain her politeness though. Yesterday, after giving a little urp just before going into yet another episode, she looked at me quite shocked and said with all the manners the dehydrated can muster..."Scuse me!". I ended up taking her to the pediatrician last night for a little shot of vistaril which seemed to help. We even made a VERY quick, nervous trip through the grocery store to get an Elmo balloon. The woman behind the counter apologized that all the balloons had writing on them, but she can't read and besides any writing they may have on an elmo balloon would have been appropriate! We ended up with a get well balloon since that was the first she came across. She woke up today with a higher fever and the 2nd stage of most stomach viruses. Thankfully she was able to keep down some water, so she even had some toast and half a banana for breakfast. The rest of the day she didn't eat too much. Needless to say, cake and ice cream isn't exactly on the brat diet! She has done nothing more than want to be held for two straight days. That has left me on the sofa with her, micromanaging the rest of the monkeys in our house. We even had to rely on Jeremy for dinner tonight. For anyone who has spent much time with us, you would know how truly scary that is!

We told her today was her birthday and in a moment of ibuprofen induced clarity, she remembered most of the words and sang along. We have rescheduled her party for next friday and will just celebrate then. I think we will even hold her gifts until then so she gets the full birthday treatment.

I snapped this picture of her today during her first of three naps. She fell asleep on the bed next to me while I chatted with my sister. I'm sure I'll post more pictures next week after the farm.
