Happy Birthday Amelia, Part II

Well, Ms. Amelia finally recovered from her stomach virus and we were able to have her birthday party. We went to a local farm program where you can pet and feed lots of different animals. We started off by holding and feed bread to the baby ducks and chicks. They were both really cute and the kids had a hard time deciding which animal was cuter. We then moved on to feeding bottles to the baby goats and a baby sheep. One little goat preferred his bottle while kneeling on his front two legs and it was very cute. The baby sheep was a favorite of my family. They had two baby cows of different breeds.... for us laymen, we'll just call them black and brown with white spots. :) They were able to polish those bottles off very fast. Makes me glad I'm not a cow, that's for sure! We walked back a shaded little path and found all the different types of birds that they had. There were a few peacocks, one of whom was proud to show off his feathers, a bunch of chickens and one incredibly ugly turkey. I'm fairly certain that whoever first looked at that and decided to chase one of those down and eat it must have been on the verge of death. There were many other animals like baby bunnies (so cute, soft and warm!), kittens, goats who do tricks, a pony and even the three little pigs and their very gnarly pot belly pig cousin complete with tusks. We had a hayride where we were able to see a fox's den, turtles, and some cows in the field. Most everyone was able to see a fox surveying his territory... very cool to see in his natural habitat. We had lunch followed by cake and played in a straw maze and on the playground equipment. Needless to say, by the time it was ready to go, the kids were beat and napped on the way home. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers for Amelia's recovery. It worked! As for me, I'm almost through with our "birthday season." Abby's birthday is tomorrow, so check back soon. We're going to the circus! Two down..... One to go!
