Our weekend

What a fun weekend we had! Jeremy was doing some work in the woods behind our house, cleaning up the scrub and taking down some trees that had fallen in the last storm. The result was a nice pile of dry wood which we were happy to make use of Saturday night. He piled it up nice, added some gas and fire and *poof* instant fun! We roasted hot dogs, made smores and even introduced our friend John who you see with Amelia to hobo pies. Who would have thought that after a lifetime of not enjoying camping that I would get to show someone else how to prepare camping fare? John came over with his sons Aaron and Tyler. His poor wife had to attend a church board meeting so we missed her. The kids had tons of fun just running around in the dark with glowsticks, driving Abby's old barbie jeep and playing in the sandbox. Even Semper was running around like a puppy. The party ended with Marshall retreating to the back door and asking "Can I go to bed?" Not words usually heard from four year old boys.

Sunday afternoon the kids and I went bowling with our church. Jeremy really wanted to come too, but had more work to do with the trees in the yard. It was Marshall and Amelia's first time bowling. They were able to put up the rails for bumper bowling and even had a metal "slide" that they would roll their ball down to give it the ummph it needed to make it to the pins. In a stunning upset, Amelia won her game with 5 other children with a score of 76. Who would have thought? As you can see in the picture, bowling shoes weren't really her favorite. She got used to them though and by the time it was time to go, she wanted to keep them. Marshall at one point knocked all his pins down and turned around and flexed his muscles with his legs straddling the ground, Mr. Universe style. It was hilarious.

We are now back to the grind of the week. Jeremy is pretty busy with work these days. He is moving from being 2nd in charge of maintenance to having his own shop in logistics. For those of you who don't know, they give them secondary jobs besides just flying. He will have fewer marines, but it is a step up. With my luck they are grooming him to be a CO so that I can host all the wives club events that I so feverishly avoid.

Abby chose her spring recital piece at piano yesterday. She will be playing "The Glass Slipper". She is very excited about it. Jeremy won't be here for the recital as he has to return to Alaska for a month, but my sister and her boys should be here.

Marshall is enjoying being four and has turned into quite the social butterfly. He stops everyone who will listen and says "My name is Marshall. I am four years old." He then attempts to twist his fingers into the four position in a way that children with fine motor coordination difficulties aren't successful at. He then goes on to tell them tales of pirates, trains with names, sharks with big teeth and alligators that sound like motors...... all of which makes sense to me but has boggled more than one old lady!

Amelia is just Amelia. She is continuing to go at life full force. Jeremy and I joke about her mood swings, but she is just all on all the time. It doesn't matter what she is feeling, it is the extreme example of it. She can be belly laughing one minute, crying the next and then laughing again. This should make her teenage years interesting. Hopefully the hormones will balance her out. :) She was great at bowling and was able to pick up her ball and carry it to the lane all by herself. This probably won't surprise anyone who has met her. At one point, she picked up a a 12 pound ball and put it on the ground next to her.

Well, I should probably go about starting my day. Love to all!
