Ye Grand Old Time!

We are happy to live in a place where we can have our festivals while the rest of the country is waiting to thaw out.  It leaves us LOTS of options for fun things to do.  Jeremy was able to skip a few hours of work one afternoon so we could take the kids to the Two Rivers Renaissance Festival.

2/3 of the Beaven offspring had a grand old time on this ginourmous rocking horse.
I'm sure you can guess who was just counting the seconds until he could get off...

He did, however, enjoy the "Bawdy" Juggler, who may have actually had a decent show if he'd just focused on the juggling and not on some rather lame attempts at being funny.  We went on a Friday, which was advertised as "School Day", so I think he was at a loss in how to literally clean up his act, so the end result was rather pitiful.  Thankfully, my little backwards, unsocialized homeschoolers didn't get even the mildest of his off color jokes, but you could tell the middle schoolers around us did, which despite the protests of their teacher, egged him on all the more.

This guy and his bird show were pretty punny!
All in all, a nice afternoon outdoors enjoying time with our kids.  I was even left with a hope of sorts.  When you look around at the types of people who join these kinds of shows, you see that there really and truly is a social group for everyone.  I think if these people had known that they only had to wait out their time in high school before they could move on and find a place where not only would they fit in, but would be the norm, there would have been a lot less angst in their teen years.
:D
