Veteran's Day Parade

Abby and Marshall participated in Yuma's Veteran's Day Parade with their Pathfinder club, so Amelia and I showed up to cheer on our favorite kids!

Lucky for us, the Barbosa's were in town!  They joined us for the festivities.  Waiting for the parade to start is always the longest part, so we arrived armed with hot chocolate, apples and books.  Suzy is homeschooled this year.  She forgot which way to hold her book.
Actually, the pages were put into the book upside down!  ;)

Amelia and her "Rah Rah" sign, complete with the Yuma Suns mascot!

Marshall told me the morning of the parade that it would be nice if I would hold a sign that read "Hi Marshall" on it when he went by... so I took cardstock and sharpies to occupy myself before the parade started.

We had the BEST seats!
(or so we thought!  Turns out that the big empty spot where we put our chairs was right next to the sound system and parade announcer.)

The theme of this years parade was an emphasis on the Vietnam War since it is the 50th anniversary.

Our club!

See anyone you recognize?

Sweet Marshall waving at his Mama!  He did hop off the float and bring me (and lots of people standing near us) a Glow tract.

It's just not a party in Yuma without a Mariachi band!

I try so hard to be nice, but some people make it rather difficult.  ;)
I'm not sure what group these guys belong to or what the man in purple is king of, but he certainly wore his uniform without one iota of shame!  I mean really... the purple plume on his hat, the silky interior of his CAPE, the sash and swords????

Big guy in a little truck....
