A note inside the elevator of Laura's parents building.
The water is going to come bake the building?
Yikes.

This pool is on the 5th floor of the apartment building.  The kids loved going down there to play with Jeremy.  He and Amelia are practicing their gymnastics moves here.

One day we went to the mall in Bangkok for mangoes and sticky rice
and Abby tried this rice, black bean and coconut milk concoction, trying
to find the taste of her sticky rice and black bean bamboo shoots that she had
last year in Surin and at the beach.  She says it wasn't the same, but was still good.

After our snack, we took a tuk tuk ride through the city.

We were hoping for a tuk tuk race like we had last year, but these drivers weren't quite as adventurous.

Back in Muak Lek, Laura planned a special treat for Marshall.  She taught him how to make doughnuts.  The girls were able to frost and decorate the finished product.

Yummy chocolate and sprinkles

Abby found Creampuff's little mouse wrapped up in her clothing.
I guess she wanted to make sure we thought of her while we were gone.

Abby's finished product

Marshall, tired from all his kneading and frying curled up with Colours and a (THE) good book for a rest.
On this section of the roadway, the water was so deep, the cars driving through caused waves so large that the water was lapping over the wall.

This gas station shows how much the water had receded by the time we went by and it still looks terrible.  I was continually amazed at the Thai people's resiliency and good nature despite a natural disaster.  I am absolutely ashamed at how we behave as a society when something happens.  The looting, pillaging and blaming that we have become accustomed to hearing about is not present here at all.  You see people wading waist deep in water or sitting on tables in flooded homes, still smiling.  We could learn a lot.
