A Sabbath Afternoon Walk

Our first Sabbath afternoon in Thailand, we hitched a ride to a local park and waterfall.  It was a wonderful way to walk off our lunch!
The fruit in Thailand is tiny... just like the people!
We LOVE their tiny bananas, oranges and apples!

A gaggle of kids hiding in a mass of trees.

Delicious fruit AND orchids that grow without any care.  Just not fair!
I have an orchid from Valentine's Day that instead of quickly killing, I'm slowly torturing.

Did you know that all the plants we think of as houseplants are actually outside plants in Thailand?  Wait until the post where you will see how that old staple Pothos grows in the wild!

A rickety bridge is the PERFECT place to ride your motorcycle!

Buddhist Spirit Houses.
These are placed outside so that traveling spirits can have a place to rest.
Even when homes are in all stages of disrepair, the spirit houses always
have a fresh coat of paint.

At this particular site, we found the traditional offerings of food, water and incense
as well as clothing.

Such a beautiful, tranquil setting

The joy of a child...brought on by nothing more than a quick jaunt across
a bridge.  I love how neither foot is touching the ground!

The Beaven and Ashlock Families

The kids were super excited that they were able to restart this pile of ash into a fire with just some leaves and creative huffing and puffing.

Remember how there are pets everywhere for you to enjoy?
This little guy was just wondering around the park.  I REALLY wanted to keep him.
He was so soft and his fur was so short.
How can you resist his little wrinkled up forehead?  I certainly can't, but Jeremy can!
