What do a New Mexican girl, a clone trooper, a sleepy princess and Joe Dirt have in Common?

I'll give you a clue....

We wanted to be them for Halloween! ;) A family from our church was having a little get together, so we donned our funny/beautiful finest and off we went!

A Very Motley Looking Crew!

Amelia and Abby decorating yummy cookies!

Abby was the American Girl, Josefina. She is a little 10 year old girl from what is now New Mexico, but was actually part of Mexico in 1824. Abby admires her because she is "pretty, nice and brave".

Marshall was Commander Fox, the clone trooper. Marshall likes him because... "He's red and white. I just like him". What can I say? He's a man of few words, but the ones he chooses sum it up perfectly!

Stopping by to visit Daddy before Storytime. He took her in the building to show her off and she came out with a fist full of candy!

Amelia was Princess Aurora, better known as Sleeping Beauty. Having never seen the movie, she says that she likes her for her pink dress. It worked out wonderfully that the flowing blonde tresses grow naturally on her head! All that was required of me was to put back the curls that the dry desert air has taken away. Amelia also got to go to her preschool storytime's trick or treat morning. They walked the children around to the different offices around the library. Amelia thought it was very cool and is always happy to go to her drop off library program all by herself! The fact that it came with candy and pretzels, well, all the better!

Jeremy wasn't actually supposed to be Joe Dirt, but he does kind of resemble him in a Rambo-ish way, huh? We heard quite a few requests for Achey Breaky Heart and Def Lepard songs.

El Skippito Bandito (aka our host!) demonstrating the Frankenstein Egg-on-a-spoon Walk...

Marshall's slightly wonky version... not too bad for a kid with no front teeth!

The completed cookie, completely consumed before the party's end!

When we got home, we were pleased to see that our neighbors annual get together was still going in the cul de sac, so we strutted (well, Jeremy did!) on down to hang out with them for a bit. The kids just picked up right were we left off at the last party and were running and playing with all their friends they see on a daily basis. It was so fun to see all the really cool costumes!

By the time we got home and got the kids to bed, it was approaching 10 pm! Since the kiddo's (Amelia) have a tendency to get up at 0630 no matter what time they go to bed, we let them know that whoever got up really early would have to take a nap. At 7am the next morning, Amelia came tiptoeing in our room. On our way downstairs, she told me that she woke up and climbed to the top bunk to see Marshall still sleeping. She thought that perhaps she should try to go back to sleep, but then decided "Hey, I like to take naps!" and came to get me. What a funny girl! I figured that kind of higher reasoning couldn't possibly take place in a sleep deprivated brain and since it was after 7, I gave her a break and didn't make her take a nap. I was wrong. This is her at 3pm... I painted her toenails for her and told her she had to sit still while they dried.

Love the kids' costumes . . . Jeremy's on the other hand, is downright scary! Sounds like you all had a great time!
