Strawberry Picking

Ok, so I promised the strawberry picking pictures some time ago. As it has a tendency to, my life has gotten away from me. The good news is that Abby has finished her end of the year testing so we only have a few odds and ends to wrap up and should be finished by the end of this week. I also got pretty busy with our landscaping areas in the yard. I needed to do the post winter weeding, replanting and have yet to do the mulching/pinestrawing. I will be so happy when that is finished.

We went strawberry picking and had a great time. The kids each carried their own pails and stuck true to their personalities. Abby had about 1/4 of a bucket full as she was very careful about what she was picking. Only the biggest, shiniest, reddest berries were good enough for her. Marshall picked whatever I told him to and would squish them in an effort to get them off the plant. He was quite pleased with his very heavy bucket (which I helped him to fill) and was grunting and pulling it all over the place, amazed at his own strength. Amelia just ate. Then she ate some more.... in fact, she ate until she was crying and wanting me to hold her. She didn't just eat the berry though. She ate the green top and probably also any dirt or bugs attached to said red/green/white berries! :) Isn't it a good thing that she is #3?

That looks like lots of fun. I wish I took advantage of strawberry picking season when I lived in N.C.
And little Amelia, eating the WHOLE strawberry, with dirt toppings, can't beat that. Great to see new pictures of the kids and your family. Have a great summer.
