Just in case you're the only person who hasn't already heard, the Beaven family was lucky enough to take a big 'ol trip! We went to Thailand to visit our friends, the Ashlocks. Many moons ago, we all lived in North Carolina together, but in 2006 they moved away for bigger and better opportunities. We have enjoyed spending time with them every Summer but were super happy when they invited us to come see them! We were able to spend 3 wonderful weeks with them and in that time had LOTS of fun and took LOTS of pictures! Needless to say, it will take me quite a few posts to get them all up here. Today I thought I'd just focus on our 2 days it took us to get there. :)
We left our house at 0800 on November 9th. Our flight left from Los Angeles International at 11 pm, but we wanted to make sure we got there plenty early and allowed ourselves extra time to both get some big city shopping done and to visit Greg and Lisa Olson. We enjoyed a 3 hour lunch with them at a most delicious Chinese restaurant before heading to the airport.
Three VERY sleepy but excited kids waiting at 11 pm on Tuesday night to get on our plane to Hong Kong.
We landed in Hong Kong 15 hours later just as the sun was rising on Thursday morning.
Despite a fitful night of sleep, these three are awake and ready to go! (Jeremy and I, on the other hand, were trying to open our eyes wide enough to find a Starbucks!)
This fun little play area was full of Lego's and Tom & Jerry. What more could you ask for?
(Who was even paying attention because we found that Starbucks!)
Farewell, Hong Kong!
The service on Cathay Pacific is 2nd to none! Laura gave us a great tip when she suggested this airline. The food was so good! This is Marshall's fruit platter, complete with dragon fruit, figs and dates. Each seat had it's own tv where you could select your choice from hundreds of movies and tv shows, listen to music (even making your own "preferred list"), view a live camera from the belly of the plane or watch in flight information.
Our descent into Bankok..
Lots of Rice Paddies...
Bangkok's Airport
And we are oh so happy to find our friends!
(and the super fancy van they rented to get us back to their place in Muak Lek!)

Looks like so much fun! I love airports and trips on planes. Makes me want to go somewhere.
So glad that you'll be posting more of your trip. I'm looking forward to it.
Cathay Pacific was a favorite airline of Jeremy's Great-Great-Uncle Ezra, who started his decades of missionary service in Thailand before heading to China. His oldest child, Eva (named after Ezra's sister -- the Beaven family Grandma Eve), was born in Thailand.
