The other "D" word- Distraction

After school yesterday, we quick ran over to Jacksonville to pick up a replacement dog bed for one arthritic puppy whose hips aren't exactly enjoying the cooler autumn temperatures.  Knowing that we would be getting back late and that cooking would be the last thing I felt like doing, I picked up a convenience dinner.  One that would make all the kids tummy's smile and not take up my whole evening with cooking and clean-up.

I was happily chatting with my sister while "making" dinner.  It wasn't until the timer buzzed and I pulled our meal out of the oven that I realized that I had made one too many.  :/  While I have been known to still set 5 places at the table, this oops moment was a little more obvious because we had a whole leftover dinner.

Having said that, we are all in a much better place than we were last Saturday.  The kids are busy with their schoolwork and extra curricular activities (which keeps me pretty busy too!).  The weather has turned cooler and we are all enjoying having the windows open and hearing the birds chirping.  We have been able to talk to Jeremy a few times thanks to face time.  His email is up and going as well.  Routine is good.  It keeps us busy and helps the time to pass.... not that I am in a big hurry for my kids to get any older, you understand.  They are doing that despite my protests.  ;)
