mi casa es su casa!

The new place!

We've made it to Arizona! Well, actually, we've been here for 3 weeks, but it took that long for the cable company to get over here and get us hooked up with all the modern day conveniences to which we've become accustomed. We've had enough time to know that life in the desert (ahem..... in winter!) suits us. The temperatures have been in the high 70's to low 90's. We are outside everyday riding bikes and running in the cul de sac with the neighborhood kids. Marshall has even found a gang of boys who are like minded in the "jedi way" who love nothing more than to practice their jedi moves with lightsabers! We have even been lucky enough to see a rare occurance here.... rain! Yuma got 2.9 inches of rain our first week here. The neighborhood kids were all running out of their homes celebrating and dancing. It was amusing and a bit disturbing all at once! The average annual rainfall is only 3 inches, so you can imagine that in perspective, it's quite a bit of rain. Turns out the desert doesn't even WANT water, so it created some flooding, in which said neighborhood children were more than happy to frolic! The parking lot at the local shopping center was so flooded (from less than 3 inches of rain, mind you!) that a shopping cart stood half buried in water in one section. I was a bit afraid that someone would put two and two together and figure out that we must have brought it from NC with us!

We are almost unpacked. We took a bit of a detour in regular unpacking to decorate for Christmas. I still have a bit of unpacking/reorganizing to do in the girls' rooms. We have started back with the homeschooling and Jeremy has returned to work. We have a church nearby, and have been attending though it just doesn't feel like home yet. I know it takes time, but I really miss my church family in NC. They do have a Pathfinder club though, so Abby is now a Pathfinder. She seems to enjoy it and is perfecting her "march". We have been having some fun with her as it seems as though she can only manage to walk like a horse when she's concentrating on how to walk! Of course, the child of a Marine will know how to march........ so she'll get it sooner or later!

We look forward to hearing what has been up with the rest of you for the last month!

So great to hear you're all alive and well and that desert life suits you. I'll call you sometime . . . my parents are here visiting right now. We've been so blessed to have them be stuck here for an extra week with us!
